Abstract:

The objectives of this project were to demonstrate the controlled release of surfactants using environmentally benign metal-organic frameworks and to also investigate the synergistic effects of halloysites and surfactant in stabilizing emulsions. A polyphenolic stoppering agent was coordinated with Fe(III) and used an environmental friendly -metal-organic framework. In this project, dynamic interfacial tension resulting from the release of a model surfactant (Tween 80) from the HNTs was studied with inverted drop tensiometry. Purpose:

To show the controlled release of surfactants using environmentally benign metal-organic frameworks and to also investigate the synergistic effects of halloysites and surfactant in stabilizing emulsions.

Data Parameters and Units:

This dataset consists of an excel file containing data used to plot figures in the associated publication and supporting information (Ojo et al., 2019). Dataset also contains a folder of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Images from which Morphological characterizations of the MPN–Tween–HNT systems are derived, optical images from showing the interfacial activity of MPN-Tween-HNTs, and Cryo SEM images. Please note that the figures referred to in the filenames and data points to the figures in the associated publication (Ojo et al., 2019). Some of the important parameters are: Temperature (C), Interfacial Tension (mN/m), contact angle (degrees), droplet sizes (micrometers), concentrations (mg/ml), weight (gms), time (hours), absorbance (arbitrary units). Methods:

Contact angles were measured on standard goniometer (Ramé-Hart, model 250). Dynamic Interfacial tension of the samples was measured on Ramé-Hart, model 250 goniometer via the inverted drop tensiometry.

Instruments:

Standard goniometer (Ramé-Hart, model 250), FEI G2 F30 Tecnai transmission electron microscope operated at 300 kV, Hitachi S-4800 Field emission scanning electron microscope operated at 3kV.
