GRIIDC Welcomes New Employees to the Team!

We’re growing! GRIIDC recently hired two new software developers, Son Nguyen and Praneeth Pondicherry Ravendernath, expanding our software development team to five talented techies. They will join our hard-working developers, Michael Williamson, Michael van den Eijnden, and Joe Holland, in building the systems that manage and archive your data.

Son Nguyen received his B.S. in Computer Information Systems (with a Business Administration minor) and M.S. in Computer Science at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. During his time at TAMU-CC, he was the full-stack developer and lead application developer of the Map Scanning project for the Spatial {Query} Lab in the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science. He designed and implemented an open-source web application named BandoCat that supports cataloging, storing, transcribing, geo-rectifying and publishing collections of maps and documents. His interests are in full-stack web development, database design, system optimization, and GIS.

Praneeth Pondicherry Ravendernath received his B.S. in Computer Science at Anna University in India and received his master’s degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. He previously worked as a full stack developer at Miami University where he built web applications using MVC frameworks following Test Driven Development (TDD)/Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Agile scrum methodology.

Software developers build and maintain the GRIIDC data management system that provides researchers with a variety of tools to manage data throughout the lifecycle of a project. GRIIDC is continuously updating our software to improve user experience and make submitting data to GRIIDC as easy as possible. Our software is open source and all our applications including those for dataset planning, dataset submission, dataset tracking, and data discovery are developed in-house using existing standards and frameworks whenever possible. Users are able to suggest improvements or report issues using the buttons located at the top of the website. We are constantly improving our system and welcome any suggestions. With the addition of two new members, we hope to make submitting and finding data even easier!
