Abstract:

The 48-hour LC50 for 1-methylnaphthalene on Americamysis bahia was calculated following exposure in a continuous-flow, recirculating passive dosing system. Mortality was visually assessed at 2, 6, 12, 24, 36, and 48 hours after exposure. Data collected includes number of dead organisms in each experimental chamber at each time point.

Purpose:

The purpose of this data set is to quantify the effects of 1-methylnaphthalene on Americamysis Bahia. This data set provides the mortality and 1-MN concentrations utilized in determination of the LC50 for use in the target lipid model.

Data Parameters and Units:

Trtmnt= nominal concentration treatments 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200 refer to the nominal target concentration of 1-methylnaphthalene (in micrograms per liter; ppb) Chamber= the chamber number sample times: 2, 6, 12, 24, 36, and 48 hours of exposure Number under time= number of organisms in the chamber dead and alive at each time Conc.= actual measured concentrations in micrograms per liter.

Methods:

Mortality was recorded at the indicated time points by visually monitoring the exposure chambers. Organisms were considered dead if no movement was visible. Concentrations were determined by a Horiba Aqualog Spectrophotometer.
