Abstract:

Trajectories from 5 undrogued and 7 drogued drifters were tracked in real-time using SPOT GPS units, launched near the Taylor Energy site just offshore of the Mississippi Delta on April 18-20, 2017 as a collaboration of two GoMRI projects: “Influence of river induced fronts on hydrocarbon transport” and “CARTHE”. Positions are interpolated to uniform 15 minute intervals starting from launching time through early June.

Purpose:

Launching drifters near the Taylor Energy site was a part of a multi-platform observational experiment conducted in April-June 2017 to investigate the main hydrocarbon pathways from the Taylor Site toward the Northern Gulf of Mexico continental shelves and offshore, toward the Gulf interior.

Data Parameters and Units:

Position of drifters (Latitude and Longitude) at every 15 min. There are four columns: Longitude (decimal degrees), Latitude (decimal degrees), Time (in days), Drifter ID number with a flag of undrogued/drogued drifters
