Abstract:

These data were compiled from weather data that were published by the National Weather Service on the internet at https://www.weather.gov for the Pensacola Beach airport station. Temperature and moisture are major controls for microbial activities and thus for the degradation of buried oil in Pensacola Beach. Air temperature and precipitation largely control temperature and moisture in the dry beach. Air temperature and precipitation data were collected at Pensacola Beach from June 2010 to July 2011. Purpose:

Air temperature and precipitation are central environmental factors affecting microbial decomposition. The data are reported because air temperature and precipitation influenced the degradation rates of oil buried in dry Pensacola Beach sands.
