Abstract:

Data were collected using instrument packages deployed on a deep sea lander. The lander was deployed at an active hydrocarbon seepage field in the northern Gulf of Mexico from March 28th to August 25th, 2015. Oxygen data was collected using optode sensors inside and out of a chimney to look at the total oxygen consumption (TOU) of the sediment. Water current (speed and direction) and temperature data were also collected to look at the point sources.

Purpose:

Data can be used to track methane plumes and look at the effects of the surrounding community and water column. This data can also be used to target grab samples for further detailed analysis.
