Abstract:

A Lagrangian float equipped with pressure, temperature, salinity and velocity sensors was deployed during the LASER experiment in the northern Gulf of Mexico in January-February 2016.

Purpose:

Measure ocean boundary layer and submesoscale eddy properties.

Data Parameters and Units:

Date/time (UTC), position (longitude/latitude, decimal degrees), pressure (db), temperature (C), salinity (PSU), velocity (m/s), buoyancy piston position (cc) The pressure sensor was located about halfway in between the two sensors, specifically 22” below the intake for the top CTD.

Instruments:

The float carried a Nortek Signature ADCP with 5 beams at 1MHz working in both High Resolution Pulse/Pulse coherent mode and broadband mode.
