Abstract:

Oiled sediment and tar balls were collected from Louisiana salt marshes near Grand Isle, LA and Bay Jimmy from 2010-2012. The hydrocarbon composition each samples - alkanes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and their alkylated homologues, and biomarkers for fingerprinting was determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Purpose:

To determine the biomarker and hydrocarbon composition of oil sheen, sediment, and tar balls collected at Grand Isle and Bay Jimmy in Louisiana salt marsh.
