Abstract:

This dataset is a result of a broad literature survey of over 1200 manuscripts from 1968 to 2015. The dataset probes the distribution of work among various disciplines and the level of interdisciplinary work. The level of interest in chemical dispersants, and trends in biological and ecological studies, including types of organisms and habitats investigated, are also recorded over time.

Purpose:

This knowledge provides current and future researchers and their funding agencies a better understanding of the history and nature of oil spill research and of the current trends and gaps within the field.
