Extent Description:
This dataset determined ingestion and sublethal effects of physically and chemically (Corexit) dispersed crude oil on marine planktonic copepods collected from Port Aransas and Corpus Christi Bay, Texas (27.836306,-97.049103 27.835888,-97.048416 27.835433,-97.048888 27.835699,-97.049446 27.836306,-97.049103) and tested in the laboratory from 2013-07-01 to 2013-10-31. The temporal and spatial extents are not relevant to the dataset.

Abstract:

This dataset reports percent mortality, egg production rates, hatching percent, and egestion rates for three species of copepods (Acartia tonsa, Temora turbinata, Parvocalanus crassirostris). Plankton were exposed to four experimental treatments for 48 hours including a control, dispersant (Corexit 9500A), dispersant plus crude oil, and crude oil alone. Zooplankton samples collected from Port Aransas, TX in August and October, 2013. Samples were collected from surface waters and larger plankton were removed using a 2000 um sieve.

Purpose:

To determine the acute toxicity of the dispersant Corexit® 9500A on marine copepods.
