Abstract:

This dataset contains values for water column concentrations of dissolved inorganic nutrients (nitrate + nitrite, nitrite, ammonium, phosphate, silicate), particulate phosphorus, chlorophyll a and phaeopigments and dissolved oxygen from multiple depths along profiles conducted at 5 primary stations and 6 survey stations as part of CARTHE's 3rd Pelagic Cruise on board the R/V Pelican between July 7th and 10th 2014. This dataset is associated with the following publication: Mason OU, Canter E, Gillies LE, Paisie T and Roberts BJ. 2016. Mississippi River plume enriches microbial diversity in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Frontiers in Microbiology 7:1048. ​DOI: 10.3389/fmicb.2016.01048.

Purpose:

This dataset was developed as part of CARTHE's 3rd Pelagic Cruise (PE-15-01) from 7 - 10 July 2014. This component of the research effort addressed two main objectives: 1) provide information on dissolved inorganic nutrients, particulate phosphorus, and chlorophyll a/ phaeopigment concentrations along profiles conducted at 5 primary stations and 6 survey stations; and 2) determine the accuracy of DO patterns generated by CTD profiles.
