Abstract:

These are capture data for adult (AHY) Seaside Sparrows captured on our study plots during sweep samples during the breeding season of 2012 and 2013. In sweep samples, we set up a line of 4-5 12m mist nets perpendicular to the coastline, then use a line of 3-5 people to flush birds into the nets on both sides of the nets. We also include AHY and hatch year (HY) birds sampled in October 2012 from our plots and near our plots after the passage of Hurricane Isaac.

Purpose:

These capture data are used in the analysis in Stouffer PC, Taylor S, Woltmann S, Bergeon Burns CM. 2013. Staying alive on the edge of the earth: Response of Seaside Sparrows (Ammodramus maritumus) to salt marsh inundation, with implications for storms, spills, and climate change. Pages 82-93 in Shupe TF, Bowen MS, eds. Proceedings of the 4th Louisiana Natural Resources Symposium. Shown here are only the data for birds captured with sweep samples.
