Abstract:

This dataset contains the input python scripts and the output data for a simulation of fates of natural gas seep bubbles in GISR G08 research cruises, using the Texas A&M Oilspill Calculator (TAMOC). Three cases are simulated, which correspond to three different dives (H1405, H1406 and H1407) during the GISR G08 cruises. The data contains the time evolution of gas bubbles parameters (size, slip velocity, density, remaining mass of CH4 as isotope of C12 and C13).

Purpose:

To study the fate and transport of isotope CH4 from natural seeps in the MC 118, Gulf of Mexico.

Data Parameters and Units:

Three dives are simulated. H1405 (April 17, 2015), H1406 April 17, 2015), and H1407 April 18, 2015). This dataset contains two folders: /input and /output /input: contains the files to run the model TAMOC. In each dive (subfolder, e.g., /H1405), the mode input file is given as model.py. Ambient profiles of conductivity, depth, temperature, and three velocity components (u, v, w) were provided in the ambient.nc. Mole fraction is different for all 3 dives. Z0 is different in H1407. There is no mu and sigma for the dive H1407, the bubble sizes are from the file “size_200m.txt" included in the input folder. /output: contains the files of output from the simulation. Each folder contains 1000 .txt files, which are the output file for each bubble.
