Abstract:

Particle and zooplankton samples were collected during cruise 515 using a CTD-rosette and a MOCNESS aboard the R/V Endeavor. Our objectives were to characterize the physical and chemical properties in the water column at ECOGIG seep and other study sites. The ship departed Gulfport MS on 09/05/2012 and collected samples at ECOGIG sites before returning to Gulfport on 09/16/2012.

Purpose:

Characterization of physical and chemical properties in the water column at ECOGIG seep and other study sites.

Data Parameters and Units:

Total N and C concentrations: µmole/L delta-13C: per mil deviation from VPDB delta-15N: per mil deviation from atmospheric N2 date (mm/dd/yy), time (local time, hh:mm:ss), latitude (decimal degrees), longitude (decimal degrees), depth (meters).

Methods:

Samples were dried, then pelletized in Sn capsules for continuous flow isotope ratio mass spectrometry.

Instruments:

The elemental and isotopic composition of particles and zooplankton was measured by continuous-flow isotope ratio mass spectrometry using a CE NC2500 elemental analyzer interfaced to a Micromass Optima IRMS system.
