A data management plan describes data that will be created and generated by a project, and how this data will be organized, managed and stored throughout the course of project. Good data management prevents researchers from losing data and reduces the creation of redundant data. It also ensures high quality data that can be reused for other purposes and shared with other researchers. An effective data management plan will help researchers identify, organize, document and store data to facilitate sharing through GRIIDC or another data archive. The resources listed below include the GRIIDC DMP Template that provides a checklist of questions and information that should be addressed in a data management plan. This template is also available online through the University of California Digital Library DMPTool.
